Tomamu Ski Resort receives about 8 to 9 metres of snowfall on average per season. In classic Japanese style the resort infers that it only gets 4.8 metres and under sells its finest asset. The powder falls very light and dry and the Tomamu snow is often well maintained thanks to low temps and high elevation.

RosieL, I'd go to Saas Fee over la Rosiere anytime (budget permitting) and almost anywhere else over la Rosiere anything being equal. Why ? la Rosiere is rubbish. Rubbish snow (South facing, windy / icy), rubbish slopes, rubbish value, really really rubbish mountain restaurants. Great for ski in ski out on boring pistes though.
